"The Black Russian":
Book Presentation and Book-signing by the Author,
Professor Vladimir Alexandrov (Yale University)
When: April 19th (Friday), at 7:00 p.m.
Where: American Councils for International Education, Large Conference Room (12th Floor).
Come join us for a meeting with the author of a sensational new book about a previously little known hero of Russian-American history.
Frederick Bruce Thomas (a.k.a. Fyodor Fyodorovich Tomas) was born in the Mississippi Delta to recently freed slaves and later chose Moscow as his home. There he married twice, acquired a mistress, took Russian citizenship, and by dint of his talents, hard work, charm, and guile became one of the city’s richest and most famous owners of variety theaters and restaurants. Given the time-frame of all of the above-mentioned events - the turn of the century and the Bolshevik revolution of 1917 - this life-story was destined to become even more "exciting"...
Come listen to the introductory talk and book reading by a renowned expert in Russian history and culture, Professor Vladimir Alexandrov of Yale University, followed by the Q & A session.
Be among the first to purchase your own copy of this "magnetizing and unforgettable" (Booklist) work, that the author will be very willing to sign for you. Read more about Vladimir Alexandrov, the author of "The Black Russian" here.
