Join us on October 21st for the first presentation in our Lecture Series:
"On the Deep Ancestry of the Slavic Peoples:
Genetic Identity and Cultural Narratives"
Guest-speaker: Dr. Edwin R. Squiers (Taylor University, Indiana)
In this presentation we will explore recent advances in human genetics
that allow us to document our deep ancestry. The talk will introduce the science that allows us to understand our genealogy back beyond the paper trail.
We will trace the pre-Slavic peoples from their origins some 50,000 years ago to Southern Russia during the last Glacial (max. about 15,000 years ago) and then follow the lineage s it occupies much of Eastern Europe.
If you are interested in knowing more about human genetics and Slavic history
or if you are interested in learning how you can trace your own genetic lineage...
come join us!
Information will be available explaining how you can participate in National Geographic's Global Genographic Project and learn about your own genetic history.
Light refreshments will be served.
